Celtic fans delighted by reported interest in Leeds defender Barry Douglas

Celtic have been linked with a move for Leeds United defender Barry Douglas – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have given a positive response to the transfer speculation.

Sky Sports has reported that the Bhoys are drawing up a shortlist of left-back targets, as they are looking to offload defender Boli Bolingoli following the recent incident that saw him break lockdown regulations.

The report claims that Douglas is “high up” on the shortlist drawn up by Neil Lennon’s team to be a full-back signing.

Douglas, 30, played a part last season in Leeds securing promotion from the Championship to the Premier League and is a left-back with great energy out wide.

He is a left-footed defender that has proven himself to be a classy performer in England’s second-tier and consistent for Leeds, but his contract with them is entering its final year.

The full-back is a set-piece specialist that has shown during his career he can produce great delivery into the box, plus he previously earned one senior international cap for Scotland back in 2018.

Celtic fans may be intrigued to hear that Douglas admitted to Leeds-based podcast Talking Shutt that he grew up a Rangers fan.
