Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is touted as one of the best midfielders yet to make a big-money move in European football – but Celtic fans were delighted on Thursday night as captain Scott Brown kept the Serie A superstar quiet.
Bleacher Report claim 24-year-old Milinkovic-Savic – who was born in Spain but has clocked up 13 caps for Serbia – is worth a whopping £100million and has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea.
Clocking up 10 appearances in all competitions prior to Thursday night’s Europa League clash, Milinkovic-Savic has had a hand in six goals from midfield – scoring two goals and laying on four assists.

But against Celtic at Parkhead under the lights, the midfielder could not get the better of captain Brown. Even though Christopher Jullien scored the winner late on and won the man-of-the-match award, many felt Brown was the star of the clash.
The holding midfielder did not let Milinkovic-Savic have a second to breathe throughout the clash. Keeping the Serb quiet was one of the understated reasons why Celtic managed to get the three points against Serie A outfit Lazio.
Celtic fans reacted with absolute delight, as Brown pocketed Milinkovic-Savic throughout the Europa League tie – with many reacting to reported news from the Daily Mail that Chelsea scouts had gone to watch the midfielder.
