Greg Taylor was promoted to the starting XI for the win over Rennes on Thursday night – and some Celtic fans on Twitter weren’t convinced by their defender’s performance.

Neil Lennon watched his side record a 3-1 home win, which means they have topped their Europa League group with a match to spare before the knockout rounds.

The Scottish champions continued their impressive European campaign by dispatching French opposition at Parkhead and they will avoid the teams dropping out of the Champions League in the round of 32.

There were four changes made to the side on Thursday during a busy schedule and Taylor came into the backline.

Taylor only joined in the summer from Kilmarnock and the Rennes fixture was his first taste of the Europa League group stags.

The left-back has now played just three senior games since joining the Bhoys and does have fierce competition in the full-back area.

Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo and Jonny Hayes are teammates that are also fighting it out for the left-back role, but there is an opportunity for the manager to rotate.
