Former Celtic player Kris Commons has warned the club’s supporters that Eddie Howe isn’t a messiah and won’t have the same impact as Brendan Rodgers or Martin O’Neill.
The ex-Bournemouth manager is in contention to land the Celtic job as they search for a successor to Neil Lennon who departed earlier this year.
Commons made the comments in his weekly column for the Scottish Daily Mail (Print Edition; 05/04; page 67).
He said: “Howe is not the Messiah in the way Martin O’Neill was, nor is he Brendan Rodgers, who revelled in the limelight from the moment he arrived.

“Howe is more reserved. He is articulate but softly spoken. It’s difficult to imagine him holding court in the dressing room in the same way O’Neill or Rodgers did.
“It will be an almighty culture shock.”
Following the comments from the former winger, supporters have taken to Twitter to discuss the comments.
It would seem as though some are actually in agreement with the ex-Derby and Nottingham Forest player.
Others, however, have slammed his take on the matter.
Celtic have relinquished their title in miserable fashion to fierce rivals Rangers this season and whoever gets the gig will have a big job on.
It will be interesting to see how Howe would cope with such a weight of expectation at Celtic Park and fans seem divided over his ability.
Here is what the fan base is saying on Twitter following Commons’ comments on Howe.
