Celtic are reportedly keen on a potential move for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy. That is according to a report in the Daily Mail, although Celtic will face competition from the likes of West Ham, West Brom, and Burnley. The Bhoys are said to want him on loan, but would need to negotiate a fee and wages with the Seagulls.
Duffy has fallen down the pecking order at the Amex and the return of Ben White from his impressive loan at Leeds United as well as the signature of Joel Vetman from Ajax has exacerbated rumours regarding a south coast exit.
Celtic could be in the hunt for another centre-back to replace the departed Jozo Simunovic and Duffy would be a perfect fit.
One thing for sure, is that the Republic of Ireland international would be more than happy to make the move.
Duffy has never made any secret of his Celtic leanings.
The 28-year-old was asked in an Instagram Q&A last May if he would like to play for Celtic. He responded by stating, “Maybe one day,” finishing it off with a fingers crossed emoji, as reported by Belfast Live.
Duffy has also been videoed singing along with Celtic fans regarding a potential 10 in a row league title win this season. So it is clear that the Irishman is a big Celtic fan.
If he gets the chance to head to Parkhead this summer, it seems unlikely he will be turning it down.
