Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer is reportedly on the radar for newly-promoted Premier League side Norwich City, who are eager to improve their defence this summer.

According to The Scottish Sun, the 23-year-old centre-back is ‘keen’ for a new challenge after five years with the Glaswegian side, and Norwich, as well as the likes of Newcastle United and Italian side AC Milan, are all interested in acquiring the services of the Norwegian international, who only has a year left on his current deal with Celtic.

Ajer has been linked with a move away from Celtic Park for some time, with Goal reporting in December that Ligue 1 side OGC Nice were considering a winter move for the towering defender, with John Kennedy’s valuing Ajer at £12m, yet a move never materialised even with the defender having just 18 months on his contract at the time.

The former IK Start defensive player has been a staple figure for Celtic since making his debut in the 2017/18 season and has had a successful period with the Scottish giants, with Ajer playing a major role of the team that won the famous Treble Treble under Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon.

TBR View: Ajer has done everything he can achieve with Celtic, it’s time for a change

Ajer came to Scotland in 2016 and conquered the nation, winning every domestic trophy there is to win multiple times and establishing himself as one of the most promising defensive players in the division whilst playing regular European football for the Hoops, and after five years, now is the perfect time for the Norwegian to part ways with the club.

With Celtic also likely to experience a major rebuild both on and off the pitch following the disastrous season they have experienced this year, Ajer’s departure could recoup the club some important funds into making the decisions the board need to put the Bhoys back on the right path and to dethrone Rangers from their Scottish Premiership triumph.
