Celtic defender Kieran Tierney is undergoing a medical with Arsenal ahead of his protracted deadline day move, according to Sky Sports’ transfer live blog, 8 August, 1:04pm.

They report that his £25 million switch is on the verge of being completed as a transfer saga that has rumbled on and on throughout the summer looks set to finally end.

Arsenal’s transfer window has clicked into gear in the closing stages and Tierney forms a crucial part of Unai Emery’s bid to tighten up his backline.

Tierney represents a clear upgrade on Sead Kolasinac and will be looking to emulate the impact that Andy Robertson, his Scotland team-mate has had at Liverpool.

In the current market, £25 million – which is a record for a player from the Scottish league – still represents decent value for a player who could lock down the left back slot for the next ten years at Arsenal.

Tierney has all the quality to emulate what Robertson – who was relatively unheralded when he arrived at Liverpool from Hull – has mustered at Anfield.

The energy, attacking intent and drive are all shared between the two men and Tierney looks exceptionally well-placed to bring his Celtic form to the Emirates Stadium.
