Celtic have sensationally walked away from a £3 million deal to sign Motherwell youngster David Turnbull, according to The Scottish Sun.
It had been touted recently that Neil Lennon was hopeful of making the 19-year-old his first summer signing.
Celtic and Turnbull failed to reach terms on a contract and a move to England now seems likely for the midfielder.
The collapse of a deal to see one of Scotland’s most exciting prospects will undoubtedly frustrate Lennon. He must now go back to the drawing board as he looks to add to his ranks.

Turnbull was in phenomenal form last season. In 34 games for the Well, he scored 16 goals and registered seven assists.
Motherwell were expected to rake in a club record fee for Turnbull and will now seek the same valuation from a club in England.
TBR Verdict
This goes down as a real mess on Celtic’s part and represents a poor start to the club’s transfer window.
Turnbull would have been a signing to excite the Parkhead faithful and the supporters will surely be disgruntled.
Spare a thought for Motherwell too. They may still get their money for Turnbull but they are now forced to wait until a deal can be agreed with another club.

Lennon is now facing an uphill battle to add to his squad ahead of the big kick-off.
He knows he must get his transfer dealings right this summer and this represents a disastrous start.
