Celtic are closing in on their first summer signing after a £3 million fee was agreed with Motherwell for David Turnbull, according to The Scottish Sun.
Personal terms will be discussed in the next 24 hours with the Hoops hopeful of announcing the 19-year-old shortly after.
The Hoops will be on the march towards the quadruple treble next season, whilst Neil Lennon will also hope for an improvement on the European scene.
Turnbull looks like being a promising player for Celtic. He played 34 games for Motherwell last season, bagging 16 goals and registering seven assists.
Typically a central midfielder, Turnbull can also deputise on the flank or in a deeper role protecting the back four.
He has all the attributes to thrive at Parkhead and Lennon will hope to get the very best out of the youngster.
Lennon perhaps has a tough task on his hands next season. The lure of playing for Steven Gerrard is likely to attract at least one stellar signing to Rangers this summer and the Hoops must stay ahead of the game.
Turnbull’s signing sends a message to the Gers that they still mean business and it is up to the player to prove his worth on the pitch.
Following news of the imminent signing, we looked at what Celtic fans were saying on Twitter.
I’ll be delighted to sign David Turnbull. Love to see us go for the best of Scottish talent. I always believe you need a core of that in the team. These players already have a huge understanding of what’s expected of them.

Transfers are subjective. I've seen guys come who cost a fortune (Scheidt, Slater) who were rotten and I've seen guys come who I hadnt heard of (Moravcik Nakamura) who were superb. So good luck to young David Turnbull at Celtic 🍀

David Turnbull. £3 million. You never asked me, but if you did, I'd say that was a decent deal.

@chris_sutton73 So David Turnbull has nearly signed for the treble treble Champions, 15 goals last season, been honest I'm not sure what to make of it why because we have so many midfielders, but i guess it's a signing to make up for missing out on John McGinn.

Delighted to hear a fee's been agreed for David Turnbull. He's a fine young player & a very level headed fella by all accounts. I think he could be a phenomenal signing if it goes through. Not that it's a certainty at all – he'll want regular game time & he'll factor that in…

A scoring midfielder. Plus he’s Scottish. 3m snip if you ask me. Just shows the power the champions have. Get in there. David Turnbull welcome to the treble treble winners. Let’s get some more new faces in. COYBIG 🍀💚🍀

I can honestly say I don't know much about David Turnbull or his style of play, but fair play to Motherwell for not being held to ransom and Celtic for learning from the John McGinn fiasco.

Been reminded of Phil O'Donnell, Andy Walker & Stuart Pearson. Just remembered that Tom Boyd arrived from Motherwell via Chelsea. I rest my case. Looking forward to having David Turnbull at our club. 🍀
