Celtic have today confirmed that Vakoun Bayo has joined Ligue 2 outfit, Toulouse, on loan for the remainder of the season (Official Website).
The 23-year-old signed for Celtic for £2 million (Daily Record) back in January 2019 from Slovakian club Dunajska Streda but had failed to make the grade in Scotland.
He’s made just 17 appearances for Celtic and will surely relish the opportunity of a fresh start in France.
Playing football will be paramount for the youngster during his loan spell and he’ll be keen to score some goals too.
Since arriving at Parkhead his performances have reaped just two goals and one assist and it seems unlikely that he’ll have a Celtic future.
The Ivorian was tipped for big things when he arrived but for whatever reason, he has struggled to force his way into the Celtic team on a frequent basis.
Bayo has two Ivory Coast caps to his name and also scored once in four appearances for the under-23 national ranks.
The lively talisman started just two games during his time at Celtic Park and as a result, he’ll be keen to prove a point at his new club.
TBR View – One out, one in?
With Bayo now off the wage bill for a year could there be some incoming activity for Neil Lennon?
Although the Ivorian won’t have been viewed as a member of the first-team squad, a striker signing could be on the horizon for the Hoops.
The Daily Record has reported that a £5 million move for Albian Ajeti could take place and Bayo’s departure could speed things up with that one.
For Bayo, he simply needs to try and prove a point to Lennon during his loan spell.
If he knuckles down, performs well and scores some goals then who knows what the future holds.
