Celtic had already secured their place in the last 16 of the Europa League prior to last night’s defeat to Cluj.
The Hoops were beaten by Dan Petrescu’s team 2-0 but still qualified for the next stage as group winners.
On paper, Celtic’s group was pretty tough but they prevailed beating Lazio twice and claiming four points from Rennes.
Boss Neil Lennon chose to rest some of his big guns and hand starts to some of the fringe players within his squad.
One man who did win a place in Lennon’s team for the first time was young midfielder, Scott Robertson.
The 18-year-old has come through the ranks at Celtic Park and despite the defeat, he looked very assured on his debut.
Celtic fans were desperately impressed with the performance of the youngster.
The club has a proud history when it comes to utilising the academy and Robertson is the latest to emerge.
Following the game, Celtic fans took to Twitter to speak of their delight at seeing him play and praise how competent he looked.
Lennon hasn’t been afraid to use the club’s younger players and more game time could beckon for Robertson.
Here is a selection of tweets from Celtic supporters on the back of Robertson’s impressive debut:
First half-Scott Robertson has a bit about him, tidy player.
Get big jullien off before he inevitably gets booked.
Morgan isn't going to cut it in a celtic Jersey.

Granted it's only 7 mins into his debut, but, I don't think I'm goin over the top when I say Scott Robertson is better than peak Sergio Busquets.#Celtic

Lenny gave a debut to 18-year-old Scott Robertson, while 16-year-old Karamoko Dembele became the youngest player to represent Celtic in Europe. Both will have chances in future. pic.twitter.com/2FtDgNe8ey

Europa League job was done in Italy last month by Celtic. Hard to generate desire in Cluj when there was no need. Griffiths got game time, teenager Scott Robertson did well on debut,Karamoko Dembele becomes youngest-ever Euro Celt at 16. Well done both. #CelticFC #CLUCEL #UEl

Young Scott Robertson looks a prospect.

Scott Robertson was terrific. Great experience also for Karamoko Dembele. Future is looking bright indeed.

Scott Robertson – we’ve got a player there. One of the best debuts I’ve seen from a young player. To play the way he did in the centre of the park speaks volumes for his ability but also the football education he’s so evidently had. Karamoko we know will be good. 🍀
