Celtic legend Chris Sutton has tweeted that the Celtic board have a responsibility to back Neil Lennon in the transfer market.
The post came following Celtic’s less than convincing 2-1 second-leg victory over FK Sarajevo in the Champions League qualifying stages.
Lennon’s men went through 5-2 on aggregate but their performances will need to improve as they progress in the competition.
Sutton scored 86 goals during his six-year spell at Celtic Park and in responding to a supporter, he called on the board to dig deep to bolster Lennon’s squad:
Slightly stupid tweet… 2 games in… 5-2 aggregate score and it was the board who gave him the job… nothing like being given a bit of time… the board have a responsibility to back the manager in the transfer market… rb and cf… https://t.co/atkT9qcDtu

Celtic certainly need reinforcements before domestic football gets underway.
Indeed, if they are to reach the Champions League group stages they will need one or two through the door pretty quickly.
Next up Celtic face Nomme Kalju of Estonia. They should progress through that round but the real challenge will come in the third qualifying stage.
Kristoffer Ajer deputised at right-back against Sarajevo and that is definitely an area that needs addressing.
In attack, Celtic could do with an injection of quality too.
Leigh Griffiths’ return is timely but he can’t do it all alone. Another striker wouldn’t go amiss, whilst a winger may also help Lennon out.
With Rangers making some positive additions this summer, the title race could be the closest it has been in many years.
Sutton clearly feels strongly about the club still and he is desperate for the Hoops to maintain their stranglehold on Scottish football.
