Celtic captain Scott Brown starred in The Hoops’ 2-0 win over CFR Cluj on Thursday night but he was not the only Celtic favourite to have picked up a good result in the Europa League – as Mikael Lustig helped Gent secure an away point.
Goals from Odsonne Edouard and Mohamed Elyounoussi helped Celtic pick up three crucial points in their bid to qualify for the Europa League knockout stages. Brown was in excellent form at the base of the Celtic midfield.
Gent, meanwhile, travelled to Ukraine to take on FC Oleksandriya in the Europa League and secured a 1-1 draw – which sees them sit in second place in Group I – ahead of French side St. Etienne but behind Wolfsburg.
Lustig posted on Instagram after completing the entire 90 minutes for Gent, in what was a solid result for the ex-Celtic defender’s new club. They stand a very solid chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds, at this early stage.
Lustig, 32, has clocked up 14 appearances in all competitions for Gent. The Sweden international has starred for the Belgian outfit, laying on four assists and suffering just two defeats in that time.
Celtic skipper Brown reacted to Lustig’s post on Instagram, seemingly well aware that Lustig is performing well in Belgium. He commented: “Still running the show you are.”
