John McGinn produced a stunning display for Aston Villa on Monday night as Dean Smith’s side came from behind to secure a point at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea – and Celtic skipper Scott Brown has responded to McGinn’s Instagram.
Villa pegged Frank Lampard’s side back after Olivier Giroud had put a struggling Chelsea ahead in the first half. A deep cross found Anwar El Ghazi to volley home from close range – netting a fourth Premier League goal in three games.
McGinn, 26, has now played 88 times for Villa since joining the club from Hibernian – proving instrumental in gaining promotion with Villa to the Premier League and has continued to improve since chancing his arm in the Premier League.
His move to Villa came after Scottish champions Celtic chose not to spend the asking price that Hibernian had set – something which Villa and then-manager Steve Bruce did, and the rest is history. McGinn posted on Instagram after Monday’s draw.
In his time at Villa, McGinn has not only been a box-to-box midfielder that adds intensity and work rate. He also boasts plenty of quality, scoring 11 goals and laying on even more in assists – 17 in total. He has been linked with some of England’s biggest sides.
Plenty responded to McGinn’s Instagram post, including Aston Villa stars Matty Targett and Jack Grealish – along with Hoops skipper Brown who could have ended up playing alongside McGinn in green and white.
