Celtic can't let Rangers steal Tyrese Campbell as they need him more

Rangers have recently emerged as potential suitors for Celtic target Tyrese Campbell but Neil Lennon can’t let the Gers win the chase.

According to the Independent, the Old Firm clubs are in the hunt for the Stoke man. Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Wolves are also thought to be keen.

Campbell has been in decent form of late at the Bet365 Stadium. The 20-year-old has looked the part under Michael O’Neill, scoring four goals and registering one assist this season.

Celtic’s interest in the player has been more long-standing than Rangers. A £400,000 bargain fee alerted the Hoops prior to the transfer window opening (Daily Record).

Prior to the winter break in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers defeated their fierce rivals. The Gers are two points behind Celtic with a game in hand.

Lennon will be aware of the threat that Rangers possess this season and signing Campbell would be ideal.

Celtic have Odsonne Edouard banging the goals in but after that, there is little in reserve.

Campbell can play as a striker or on the flank and his versatility would be ideal for Lennon to add to his ranks.

If Rangers were to nip in and land the Stoke man it would represent a significant blow for Celtic.

Campbell has bucket loads of potential, can score goals and also boasts the flamboyance to excite supporters.

There is a reason why so many clubs are vying for his signature but if Celtic want him they must pounce and steal a march on their fierce rivals.
