Ex-Celtic striker John Hartson has told the Daily Record that he believes Brendan Rodgers would is at Celtic Park for the ‘long haul’.

Hartson was speaking in relation to Rodgers’s future as manager of the club.

Celtic moved eight points clear of Rangers in the race for the title at the weekend.

The Hoops are also still in both cups and the triple treble is still in Rodgers’ sights.

Hartson scored 88 goals in 146 games for the Scottish giants and he doesn’t believe that supporters should be worried about losing their boss.

He told the Daily Record: “I don’t go along with the idea that Brendan will leave during the summer.

“He loves his job and if he could win 10 in a row he could walk on water – I think he would quite like to do that. He’s living the dream.”

Rodgers is a humble character and he will feel that he is living a dream managing Celtic.

He is, however, likely to hold ambitions to manage in the Premier League once again and that could have a big say on his future.

Hartson begs to differ however and think Rodgers is set for life.

He continued: “It’s not about money for him, Brendan is already wealthy and is young in terms of management.

“As things are going right now he can probably pick his next job, whether that be in the Premier League or abroad.”

Celtic have been in fine form this season and another treble would represent a remarkable achievement that will live long in the memory of supporters.

Hartson feels that Rodgers gets a buzz out of chasing history and will have silverware firmly in his sights.

He said: “For me, Celtic want that treble again.

“Right now they are the favourites to do that and I just think Brendan will want to create history.”

Celtic are flying domestically but are on the brink in the Europa League following last week’s 2-0 defeat at home to Valencia.

One thing that is certain is that the Hoops supporters worship Rodgers and he is bolstering his managerial credentials no end at Celtic Park.
