Celtic appear to have received a big boost if they remain interested in signing Fraser Forster, with the Daily Express reporting that he is one of the players Southampton plan to move on this summer.
Forster went into this summer off the back of an outstanding loan spell at Parkhead. The goalkeeper had previously endured a torrid time with the Saints, but his return to Scotland saw the England international seemingly get his career back on track.
Unsurprisingly, the Hoops were keen to bring Forster back ahead of next season. However, it appeared that a move was looking unlikely.
The Scottish Sun reported earlier this month that the £92,000-a-week star was planning to fight for his place at St Mary’s, with Neil Lennon suggesting that the door was closing and other targets would have to be considered.
But perhaps, there may still be scope for a deal to be done.
The Daily Express has reported that Forster is amongst five players the Saints will look to let go.
Of course, it still remains to be seen if a deal with Celtic can be agreed.
Lennon may have decided to pursue other targets, while Forster could be tempted to look elsewhere.
But if Celtic remain in the hunt, Forster’s reported availability will be extremely welcome news.
And given the year Forster enjoyed last year, he would surely be foolish to rule out returning for another spell.
