Celtic have seemingly been provided with an enormous boost in their quest to keep hold of full-back Kieran Tierney.

Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti suggested in his press conference today that his team don’t have need for the Scotland international, following recent speculation.

Napoli had been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old (Telegraph), but the former Chelsea boss appears to have poured cold water on the links.

He said, as quoted by Tuttonapoli.net: “We’re fine on the flanks. Mario Rui and Ghoulam are doing well.

“Right now we’re a bit unbalanced, but we’re looking at the way the two full-backs attack. That’s meant we’ve looked a bit foolish at times, but I’d be worried if it were any other way.

“You need to try things, even with the tiredness we have now, because even when you get things wrong it can teach you something.”

With Arsenal struggling to meet Celtic’s asking price, it’s looking ever more likely that the fans’ favourite will be sticking around to help the Bhoys win a ninth straight league title in 2019/20.

Goal have Neil Lennon quoted as saying Tierney’s proposed move to the Emirates is ‘off’.

With Ancelotti’s update, it is looking good for those Celtic fans who adore Tierney.
