Reported Glasgow Rangers and Celtic target Adrian Grbic has provided another boost to the Ibrox and Parkhead camps by declaring that “the time has come” for him to take the next step in his career (La Montagne).
The Clermont Foot striker was among the top scorers in Ligue 2 this season – 17 goals from 26 games – prior to its suspension and eventual cancellation due to the global health crisis.
According to Sky Sports, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic are both keen on the 23-year-old, as are English Premier League side Brighton.

With Clermont set for another season in the French second tier and plenty of interest in Grbic, he has made his intentions clear, in conversation with La Montagne.
“For a footballer, it is normal and logical to try to climb a stage each season,” he said. “It is normal to want to progress, to play in a higher division. So I think the time has come for me to reach a new level.
“Next season will be crucial for the rest of my career. For me, the choice of the championship is not the most important. The most important thing will first be to go to a club – Ligue 1 in France or abroad – where I can play to be able to take a new step.”
Last month, French outlet Le Telegramme claimed, as per GFFN, that Grbic has a €10million (£9million) price tag.
TBR View:
Grbic has shown he’s a cut above in the French second tier and it’s little surprise that numerous top-flight clubs across Europe are said to be after him.
Indeed, Clermont Foot president Ahmet Schaefer recently told France Bleu that a host of clubs – including in the Premier League and the Bundesliga – want to sign him for money the likes of which he has “never seen” before.
With both Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard and Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos being linked with clubs outside of Scotland, both Glasgow sides will likely be keeping their eyes open for potential replacements.
Grbic’s age, height – 6ft 2in – and obviously his numbers this past season make him a very appealing target for Rangers and Celtic alike, and given Glasgow has provided a springboard for numerous great players over the years, either club could be a great stepping stone for him towards the top.
