Peterborough United’s director of football Barry Fry has confirmed to The Mail – as per the Scottish Sun – that agents have told him Celtic and Rangers are interested in Ivan Toney – and supporters of both Old Firm sides have reacted.
Toney, 24, has caught glances from clubs all over England and now Scotland after his stunning performances for the Posh over the past two seasons. Signed for just £500,000 from Newcastle, Toney has starred for Peterborough.
Last season, the striker netted 23 goals in 55 but this season has gone even better – finding the back of the net 26 times in just 39 games as well as laying on 15 assists in that time. It has seen his value rocket.
Fry, who is renowned for his wheeling and dealing in the transfer market, stated that agents had informed him both Celtic and Rangers are ‘very interested’ – but informed both Scottish clubs they would have to offer £15million.

“I’ve had agents on telling me that Rangers and Celtic are very interested,” Fry said. “If they have any sense, they’ll pay us £15million to get him. If they haven’t any sense at all, then I won’t be hearing from them.”
Celtic and Rangers are both likely to be in the market for a new striker. Odsonne Edouard and Alfredo Morelos are both being linked with moves, while the Gers have just Jermain Defoe as back-up.
Both sets of supporters reacted to the news that they could look to sign the striker this summer, with Toney now expected to leave following the EFL’s ruling that sees Peterborough miss out on a play-off spot in League One.
