Cedric Soares not wanted by Inter, so Everton should swoop in the summer

It looks as though Inter Milan are not being won over by Southampton loanee Cedric Soares. The Portuguese defender joined the Italian giants on loan in January with the BBC reporting the Nerazzurri have an option to sign him permanently in the summer for £9.5 million.

However, as reported by Calcio Mercato, Inter have decided he will not be signed permanently in the summer and they will look for other options.

So should this have Everton taking interest?

The Toffees decided early that they would not make any additions in the January transfer window. The summer is likely to be different. Everton’s poor form recently means improvements have to be made.

Right-back is certainly an area where Everton appear weak, with Seamus Coleman’s best years behind him and Jonjoe Kenny still cutting his teeth.

Cedric may not have been at his best this season, but he is still a top defender. On top of that, he is trusted by Marco Silva, having played under him for one season at Sporting Lisbon.

At just £9.5 million, he could be the perfect cost-effective recruit in the summer to solve the right-back issue at Everton.
