Cazorla hits the ground running at Arsenal
Santi Cazorla has already been a huge success at Arsenal following his summer move from Spanish club Malaga.
Already the midfielder has become a cult hero at the Emirates; his performances have certainly justified his £15 million price-tag.
An average rating of 8.14/10 from 7 Premier League matches certainly tell us most of the story. On top of this, the Spaniard has already contributed 2 goals and 2 assists as Arsenal attempt to end their run of trophy-less seasons.
Before he finalised his move to England, many writers predicted that Cazorla would be a big presence in the top flight. But has he already exceeded their expectations?
Arsene Wenger believes the 27 year old helps inspire his side with his cavalier style. As he watched from the stands in last weekend’s London Derby at Upton Park, Wenger saw Cazorla terrorise the West Ham defence.
He capped a magnificent display with a stunning 25-yard strike in the latter stages of the match as the Gunners took all 3 points.
It’s clear to see Cazorla has instantly adapted to the English game. Hopefully his level of performance will continue; it truly is a joy to watch.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Spain’s World Cup qualifier versus Belarus, the midfielder said: “I have adapted well and my position within the Arsenal team gives me freedom. Maybe in the few months I have been there people have been talking a lot more about me.
“I feel important at Arsenal and I want to keep developing. I hope to continue to grow and improve in the future.”
And so he should, already he’s become a key player for Wenger’s side. A team that have so far, shown no signs of missing Van Persie or Alex Song .
In my opinion, Cazorla will prove to be one of the signings of the season, alongside this, I genuinely believe Arsenal have a good chance of title glory this season.
