Carragher not impressed with Richarlison during Tottenham win
Jamie Carragher was clearly not impressed with Richarlison during Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Nottingham Forest following a clash which led to the Brazilian going to ground several seconds later on Sky Sports (broadcast on 28/8; 18:03).
Spurs picked up another impressive win as they look to put themselves amongst the title contenders in the Premier League. Goals in each half from Harry Kane saw Antonio Conte’s men leave the City Ground with three points.
The second came after one of the most delicious crosses you will see all season from Richarlison. The forward found Kane with a brilliant ball with the outside of his boot.
But that was not the only notable incident involving the summer signing. Richarlison was hacked down after showboating at one stage. But there was another moment where the 25-year-old did not cover himself in glory.
The forward was caught in a delicate region after challenging Harry Toffolo in the air. Many would have understood had he gone down immediately. However, that is not quite what happened.
Richarlison managed to carry on for a few more seconds and showed no sign of being in any pain. That was until possession was lost. And then, he decided to go to ground and writhe around in pain.
Carragher has had his spats with Richarlison in the past. And he clearly had little time for his theatrics after seeing a replay of what happened.
“Honestly I’m not saying anything. I’m not getting in trouble with Tottenham fans and Everton fans over him. It looked like he had been caught initially between his legs and that can be painful. But it was so long until he went down,” he told Sky Sports.
“What am I going to do with him?”
Carragher not impressed with Richarlison
Sunday’s game certainly saw the best and worse sides of Richarlison. The assist was simply world-class. And he clearly managed to wind a couple of the Forest players up with his skills.
But the way he went down after that clash with Toffolo was quite embarrassing, considering that he seemed absolutely fine initially.
He is surely the epitome of a player opposition fans love to hate, while being absolutely beloved by his own supporters.
