Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has lavished former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers with praise as his Leicester City side sit on the brink of UEFA Champions League qualification.
Speaking on Monday Night Football via The Daily Record following the Foxes 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, the former Liverpool defender was full of praise for his former manager as Leicester climbed up to third in the Premier League table with five games of the season left to play, with Rodgers’ side looking likely to return to Europe’s elite club competition for the first time in five years.

Rodgers left Celtic midway through the 2018/19 season to take the Leicester job after an impressive three years with the Glasgow side, where the Northern Irish manager won two Scottish Premiership titles as well as five domestic cups with the Hoops, and Carragher signalled this experience in Scotland as a reason why the Leicester boss was flourishing with the Premier League side
Carragher said on Rodgers: “I think he’s the best British manager, I really do. I’ve believed that now for a couple of seasons. He’s so experienced now in terms of winning trophies also at Celtic, where I think Brendan Rodgers will be confident enough in managing any group of players. And I mean that in European football.

The former Liverpool defender added: “I don’t think he’d have any qualms with going on a training pitch and really believing in what he’s doing because of the experiences he’s had. And I actually think it’s gone under the radar what he’s done at Leicester – it’s phenomenal the job he’s done.”
TBR View: Rodgers’ Celtic success shows high-profile managers SPL is a viable work environment
In the modern game, going from Liverpool to Celtic would be seen as a sideways step in one’s career, especially for a manager. Yet Rodgers’ success with the Hoops in the three years he spent with the team he grew up supporting proves that the Glaswegian club, as well as the big hitters in the Scottish Premiership overall, are a viable opportunity for high-profile coaches.

Indeed, tasting success with Celtic and developing his managerial skills has been a huge reason why Rodgers has flourished at Leicester in the two years the former Liverpool boss has spent with the club, and his story could be a source of inspiration for other coaches looking for something different in their careers.
