Carragher thinks one Tottenham star is completely different under Nuno Santo
Jamie Carragher has told The Overlap YouTube show that Harry Kane is now a completely different Tottenham player to the one we saw under Mauricio Pochettino.
Kane, who adopted a deeper role under Jose Mourinho and seems to have continued that under Nuno Santo, has come under scrutiny this season after his claims in the summer about leaving the club. As we all know, Daniel Levy refused to sell to Manchester City. Kane, then, is now with Spurs and fighting to get fans back onside.
The subject of Kane was always going to come up on the latest episode of The Overlap. And while one Tottenham fan was defending Kane, Sky Sports pundit Carragher believes he is a completely different player nowadays.
“You must be watching a different game. What I’m saying is, he’s a completely different player to that he was under Pochettino. I’m watching a different Harry Kane. What he’s doing in terms of dropping off last season was amazing,” Carragher said on Kane on The Overlap.
“I didn’t see it with England in the summer. It’s similar to like when you watch Ronaldo or Messi. He really conserves his energy.”
Kane has yet to score in the Premier League this season. However, he has hit six in the other competitions, including a hat-trick against Mura a few weeks ago.
TBR’s View: Kane is a different player and Tottenham need to find a solution
And that goes for both on and off the pitch with Kane. Obviously, he’s a world-class player, so Spurs have to pick him.
But if he is going to be so deep at times, then they need either a new forward, or a midfielder running in beyond at the right times.
Off the pitch, Levy faces crunch time in January and into the summer.
City won’t want to pay anymore money than they put up last summer and the reality is, as Kane gets older and his contract runs down, his value will diminish.
