Carney Chukwuemeka posts Instagram message after Premier League debut, John Terry among responses

Aston Villa’s teenage prospect Carney Chukwuemeka received a host of messages on Instagram after making his senior debut on Wednesday.

Villa won 2-1 away at Tottenham in the midweek Premier League fixture, and manager Dean Smith managed to hand out a couple of debuts in the closing stages.

Chukwuemeka, who is a highly-rated central midfielder, entered the action in the 89th minute to play the stoppage time.

The 17-year-old was so close to putting his name up in lights with a low shot that struck the post during his bright cameo display.

He’s impressed at youth level this campaign, and it’s quite an achievement to make your first appearance in the first team during a Premier League encounter.

Additionally, there was also a debut appearance for 19-year-old winger Jaden Philogene-Bidace.

Chukwuemeka described yesterday as “a dream come true” on Instagram, which prompted responses from the likes of senior player Ezri Konsa and assistant coach John Terry.

TBR’s View:

After featuring on the first-team bench in recent league matches, Chukwuemeka was finally rewarded in the final moments of the Spurs match with a runout on the pitch.

The all-action central midfielder should hope for a few more minutes in the final game of the league season this Sunday at home to Chelsea.

There is clearly so much talent coming through the academy right now at Villa Park, and English manager Smith is the man who needs to continue building the bridge from the youth team to the senior group.
