Leeds United Under 23 manager Carlos Corberan has been full of praise for returning defender Luke Ayling and the impact he has had on the club’s young players during his recovery.
Ayling turned out for the Under 23 side to help his recovery as he gears up for his first minutes of the season, and as per the Yorkshire Evening Post, Corberan was impressed.
He said: “It’s very positive to see someone like Luke Ayling, who is the spirit in the first team, here and ready to show how he faces every game or when he is training with the young guys. He is so into them, he’s teaching them what is the player you have to be at Leeds United.
“We saw one player is 16 years old, is playing with someone who has high experience in the first team. This can help young players to develop and see the example of how you have to live the games. It’s very positive to have this relationship in the club and this is one of the keys to the success in the academy.”
TBR’s View – Ayling may need to be patient given the form of Dallas but will be a big boost
Stuart Dallas has shown at both club and international level that he can be a right back capable of offering quality at both ends of the pitch.
That means Ayling may need to be patient – and also that he won’t be rushed back, ensuring that he has fully recovered.
But he will be a huge boost when he’s back, especially given Leeds’ tendency to pick up defensive injuries, and his attitude will add something different.
