It has taken Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti just four games in charge to lose patience with midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to the Sun.

Sigurdsson was abject in the 1-0 Merseyside derby loss at Anfield on Sunday and the report says that Ancelotti has already given up on the former Swansea man.

He is reportedly earning £5 million per year at Goodison Park but is not influencing games in the way fans expect and Ancelotti wants him sold.

Morgan Schneiderlin – another who had an awful game at Anfield – Theo Walcott, Cenk Tosun, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford are all named in the report which hints at a cull.

TBR’s View – Ancelotti needs to be given free reign to transform Everton’s squad

Plenty of pundits questioned Ancelotti’s suitability for undertaking the squad overhaul the Everton job requires but he needs to be given free reign to do it.

Sigurdsson is the only one of the three playmakers left from the Ronald Koeman days and he isn’t working hard enough or influencing matches anywhere near enough now.

Ancelotti should be a big draw for potential new recruits but Everton need to clear the decks first and removing Sigurdsson and building around a new creative fulcrum would be a fantastic start.
