Everton have recently been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva. As reported by Le10 Sport, Everton are hopeful of securing the Brazilian veteran to strengthen their defensive position this summer. Silva is out of contract at PSG and is yet to be offered a one-year extension to his current deal.
As reported by Foot Mercato, Carlo Ancelotti is driving this move. He sees the £240,000-a-week star as a potentially important short-term signing to help Everton elevate themselves into the elite.
Undoubtedly, Ancelotti is a big fan of the player.

He has worked with him on two occasions, at AC Milan and PSG.
He helped the Brazilian become one of Europe’s leading defenders. In fact, as the Italian told Eurosport in 2013, he once felt that Silva was the best centre-back in the world.
“Thiago Silva is the best central defender in the world. He had a big game against Barça, but it’s a normal performance for him. He has all the qualities of the world. He is intelligent, he goes fast, he has the technical quality. He has everything.”
Undoubtedly, seven years ago, Silva was playing the finest football of his career. However, he turns 36-years-old later this year and is no longer in the same category.
That said, he remains an ever-present in the PSG line-up and would be a massive improvement on and leader to the current Everton back-line.
With it looking increasingly likely Silva will be available on a free, it is perhaps no surprise that Ancelotti wants to bring him in.
