Carlo Ancelotti has previously praised ‘great personality’ of reported Everton target Isco

Everton are being linked with a potential move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco in January. According to a report from The Mirror, Los Merengues are ready to loan out the Spanish international to the Toffees, who could then complete his permanent signing next summer for a fee in the region of £18 million.

It is a deal that carries extra credence given Everton’s positive start to the season and impressive transfer business in the summer, which saw Allan and James Rodriguez move from Napoli and Real Madrid.

Both were lured in by the chance to work with Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti again, something Isco has in common.

The Spaniard was actually the first signing to arrive at Real Madrid after Ancelotti’s appointment in 2013. Whilst he was not exactly an ‘Ancelotti signing’, as the deal to bring him from Malaga had already been thrashed out before the Italian got in the Bernabeu hotseat, he did become a regular member of Ancelotti’s team in the Spanish capital.

“Everyone can talk about Isco’s talent,” Ancelotti told MARCA in 2013. “But for me the strange thing about his case is the great personality he has shown since arriving, at just 21 years of age. And that’s no easy thing to have, especially in this stadium.”

Once again, if Everton were to manage a deal to bring Isco to Goodison Park it would be a major coup from the club and another clear sign of the pulling power their Italian manager possesses.

For now, it remains a rumour, but it is clear from the example set by the signing of James in particular that Everton’s manager is able to pull in some serious talents on the transfer market.
