Carlo Ancelotti has praised Tom Davies, a player he believes has an ‘advantage’ over other midfielders. The Everton sounds very pleased with the player.
Tom Davies has only started one game for Everton this season but Carlo Ancelotti sounds very pleased. That came in the 4-2 win over Brighton, as the boss asked Davies to play a holding role.

And coming away from that game, Ancelotti believes Davies has an advantage that few midfielders do.
“I think Tom has the advantage that he can play in all the positions in the midfield,” said Ancelotti, per Evertonfc.com. “He can play as a holding midfielder but it depends what we are going to ask from him.
“Against Brighton, he did really well tactically… [exactly] what I asked from him.
“He didn’t have to do special, fantastic passes, he had to control well the position in front of our two centre-backs and, honestly, he did really well, tactically.”
TBR View:
Allan’s arrival makes it tough for Davies. The Brazilian is a high-energy, pressing midfielder, which is largely what Davies does. Allan’s experience, though, will get him the nod more often than not.
So Davies is surely delighted to hear that his manager sees an advantage in him. If Ancelotti feels Davies can play any midfield role, he’ll hold him as an important player this season.
That might not mean playing every week but as a good squad option? Definitely. In an age of specialised midfielders, having someone who can cover several roles isn’t very common.
Davies might not be a regular this season, then, but you can bet he’ll be a player Ancelotti wants around.
