‘They’d be mad’: Clinton Morrison says Arsenal must appoint Carlo Ancelotti

The Italian was sacked by Napoli last night after a poor start to their domestic campaign.

Clinton Morrison has told Talk Sport that Arsenal would be mad not to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as the club’s new manager.

The ex-Crystal Palace striker was speaking on White and Sawyer (Wednesday 11th December 2019).

Arsenal are without a manager after sacking Unai Emery last month. Freddie Ljungberg is current in charge on an interim basis.

He has overseen a win, a draw and a defeat during his three games in charge.

The Gunners currently languish in ninth place in the Premier League, seven points away from the top four.

Ancelotti was sacked by Napoli following a 4-0 victory over Genk. Despite their Champions League progression, a seventh-place Serie A standing has seen the axe fall on the ex-Chelsea boss.

Morrison believes that Arsenal should act quickly to get their man.

He told Talk Sport: “It’s a no-brainer. If you haven’t got a manager and Ancelotti becomes available you go and get this man.

“He’s a serial winner and I think he’d be a great fit for Arsenal. They’d be mad not to go and appoint him this week!

“He’s that good of a manager that if he becomes available you have to go and get him.

“Ancelotti and Arsenal is a great fit and he’d be brilliant. He’d be superb for that.”

TBR Verdict – Morrison is right, Ancelotti is a must for Arsenal

Arsenal simply have to act quickly to get the manager that could lead back towards the trophy-laden happier times.

The clamour for his signature is rife and Everton will surely try and rival the Gunners to appoint him.

Very few managers in world football boast a CV quite so impressive as the Italian.

He has managed Juventus, Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, winning the Champions League on three occasions.

Arsenal have underachieved for far too long and Ancelotti could really revive the club’s fortunes once and for all.
