Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he was left shocked at James Rodriguez’s goal last night against Leicester City.
The Toffees recorded a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester in the Premier League, which keeps them in distance of the Champions League positions.
Everton went ahead after half an hour when Rodriguez scored a stunning individual goal from the edge of the box.
The 29-year-old is associated with trademark finishes with his favoured left foot, but he surprised the manger again Leicester with an unstoppable finish with his weaker right foot that flew in off the post.
Despite the Colombian attacker’s goal, the Merseyside club had to settle for a point due to Youri Tielemans’ equaliser for the visitors.
Ancelotti reacted to Rodriguez’s goal post-match.
“Wow, I was surprised because I don’t have memory of him scoring with his right. Scoring a fantastic goal with his right and also the performance was really good,” Ancelotti said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
Rodriguez once again showed the kind of individual talent that has seen him shine at both Real Madrid an Bayern Munich during his career.
The South American playmaker is such a creative threat in the forward positions and can make something out of nothing, which is what they needed against a tough opposition in Leicester.
But Everton will be desperate for him to start replicating his home form on the road, as all four of his goals this season have come at Goodison.
