A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Scott McKenna’s performance in the Scottish Premiership’s opening game of the 2020-21 season.
The Aberdeen defender has been linked with Celtic on a number of occasions in the past.
Last summer, Celtic reportedly had a £5million offer knocked back for McKenna, with Aberdeen holding out for £10million, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
The Hoops also seemingly tried the previous summer to sign the 23-year-old, a bid of £3.5million having been rejected, according to BBC Sport.
With Celtic currently short in the centre-back department, Neil Lennon could potentially look to bolster his defensive ranks further.
However, McKenna’s display against Rangers didn’t exactly endear himself to some Bhoys as a potential transfer target.
He got dragged out of position, forcing Ash Taylor to come across as cover and leaving Ryan Kent acres of space to run in behind and score the only goal of the game.
Here is some of the reaction on social media:
Remember people thought Scott McKenna was worth upwards of £1million?

Aberdeen are pathetic man. Some things never change. Yet there are still some Celtic fans out there who think we should sign Scott McKenna.

I do believe I advocated Celtic signing McKenna at one point. Mistakes were made. He is a lot slower and just generally worse than I had thought.

McKenna isn’t much better. Can’t believe we were ever interested in him

There should be absolutely no more chat of any Aberdeen player to Celtic

Never seen Scott McKenna have a good game. Cannot fathom why we continually show interest, miles off our level
