A number of Southampton fans have waxed lyrical about Spurs academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters following his latest display.

The 24-year-old burst onto the scene for Tottenham with an impressive debut against Newcastle in August 2017.

Despite Walker-Peters’ superb start at Spurs, he managed just 24 appearances for the Tottenham senior team.

In 2019-20, Walker-Peters made five appearances for Spurs and just one after Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino, despite the club’s lack of options at right-back at the time.

Eventually, he swapped London for Southampton on loan in January last year and, in August, signed a five-year deal with the Saints for a reported £12million fee.

Walker-Peters has gone on to make 54 appearances for Southampton to date and, on Friday, delivered an “absolutely unreal” display in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

Playing at left-back, he was “the best player on the pitch for Southampton” and “exceptional”, according to Hampshire Live.
