A number of Leeds United fans have been praising Whites academy forward Niall Huggins for his impressive part in Sam Greenwood’s goal for the Under-23s yesterday.
The Elland Road youngsters took on their Wolves counterparts in a Premier League 2 clash at Thorp Arch, Mark Jackson’s first match in charge of the Whites U23s finishing 2-2.
Leeds took the lead in the 19th minute through Joe Gelhardt, who weaved through the opposition defence and fired low into the net past Andreas Sondergaard.
The Whites then thought they had doubled the lead three minutes from half time, but Gelhardt’s effort from Huggins’ delivery wasn’t deemed to have crossed the line.
However, Leeds did eventually make it two before the half-time whistle blew, courtesy of great control from Huggins and perseverance from Greenwood.
The Leeds Twitter account shared a video clip of the “perfect one-two”:
And some Leeds fans loved what they saw, leaving positive comments:
Huggins has come through the ranks at Leeds, earning promotion from the Under-18s to the Under-23s in 2019.
The 19-year-old has been name-checked by Kalvin Phillips as a Thorp Arch youngster to watch out for (Forza Academy Football, also mentioned on Leeds Live).
