Alfredo Morelos scored his 100th goal for Rangers in all competitions on Sunday, posting on Instagram – and Daniel Candeias has responded.
Morelos, 25, is struggling to find his best form this season – but came into the season having clocked up 94 goals in 182 games in all competitions.
So far, he has six goals in 17 games – clocking up his 100th in Rangers colours on Sunday. It proved to be the winner, fitting for Morelos.
The Colombia international got his head on a low cross from James Tavernier. It put Rangers 2-1 up in Paisley, after St. Mirren took the lead.
That is, after Connor Ronan – on loan from Wolves – lashed an effort into the top corner past Jon McLaughlin from all of 30 yards.
But two goals in two minutes changed the game. Kemar Roofe netted from the penalty spot, before Morelos nodded home. He posted on Instagram.
100 Rangers goals for Morelos: Candeias reacts on Instagram
Morelos has been sensational for Rangers. While Pedro Caixinha’s stint as Ibrox gaffer is laughed at, the signing of Morelos has been sensational.
A bargain at £1million from Helsinki, the striker has also laid on 45 assists in his 199 games. A ratio of one every four games for Rangers.
This season, yes, Morelos has been below par. Chris Sutton questioned his conditioning last week – but he did not have a pre-season.
However, he is still making an impact. Candeias reacted to his post, cheekily reminding Morelos of his 25 assists for Rangers during his time at Ibrox.
His message is translated as: “Bravo my Buffalo, this is within the reach of a few. Well done on getting 100, but do not forget about my 25. Hug, brother.”
