Can West Ham end horrid run against Newcastle?

West Ham travel to St James’ Park on Saturday to face Newcastle United in the Premier League and have a horrid record against them in recent times

The Hammers have lost four of their last five fixtures against them, which included defeats in both meetings home and away last season.

They last won at St James’ Park back in November 2012 with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a Kevin Nolan goal, while the previous away victory was back in 1998.

West Ham and Newcastle are currently locked together in the Premier League on 12 points after 13 games, with the latter just shading it on goal difference.

Both are only four points above the relegation places and a win to drag them further away from trouble would be a major boost.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side did lose 4-0 to leaders Manchester City in their last game, but picked up four points in the two games beforehand.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have won their last three consecutive league matches and will be full of confidence going into the weekend.

West Ham have a long way to go if they want to have any realistic ambitions of pushing for a European start and sparking a winning run by beating bogey side Newcastle would be a great start.
