Can Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko sustain his good form?

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has had a difficult time since his arrival from Newcastle United in 2016 and struggled to consolidate his spot in the team.

But the 29-year-old has been in much better form this season and been one of Spurs’ more positive players with a string of confident performances.

He is a French powerhouse that has become a real driving force in the centre of the park and looks like he can play an important role in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad moving forward.

But is his recent form just a flash in the pan?

Sissoko had a nightmare appearance off the bench on Friday night for France in their defeat to the Netherlands, as he came on to conceded a penalty for a lazy tackle in the box and also looked sloppy on the ball.

Sissoko, who earns £80,000-a-week (Spotrac), will hope he’s not in danger of slipping back to his old ways.

He has made progress recently by turning in confident displays that have helped Spurs, but there is a risk he goes back to mediocrity.

The central midfielder is not the most technically gifted, but a confidence player who can make an influence with his powerful running and energy when on form.

It will be intriguing to see if Sissoko will manage to keep up some form of if his international display will be the catalyst to a downward spiral.
