Simon Terodde – Vfl Bochum
Simon Terodde ended this season as the 2. Bundesliga’s top scorer, netting 25 goals in 33 games. While the 28-year-old striker has been attracting interest from clubs such as Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, and Fulham, David Wagner’s German connections might just give Huddersfield an advantage when push comes to shove. Price may be an issue, as it always is, but with Terodde out of contract next June, it’s unlikely that Bochum will demand anything more than £2,000,000-£2,500,000. That’s a significant outlay for ‘little old Huddersfield’, no doubt about it; however, there is money to spend, providing it’s spent wisely.
What about Wells?
It’s no secret that Huddersfield Town need another striker. Nahki Wells has been prolific this season, but he can’t be expected to play every single match and score every single goal. Not only would the addition of Terodde provide relief and competition for the Bermudan, it would provide Wagner with greater flexibility, allowing him to experiment with a 4-4-2 formation or play Wells as an inside-forward or even a Number 10. If the worst should happen and a bigger club makes a successful swoop for Wells, Town would already have a proven goal scorer ready to take his place.
