Ben Marshall – Blackburn Rovers

With Blackburn yet to offer Ben Marshall a new contract, the experienced 25-year-old looks set to leave Ewood Park this summer. According to The Sun, Slavisa Jokanovic is a big fan of the former Leicester City man and is pushing the Fulham board to table a £1,500,000 bid once the club’s transfer embargo has been lifted by the Football League. If Huddersfield were to match that bid, they would smash their current transfer record. But records are there to be broken, so capturing Marshall’s signature would be a real statement of intent.

Where would he play for the Terriers?

Although a right-sided midfielder by trade, Paul Lambert has deployed Marshall as a right-back to great effect at various points during the season. That’s where Wagner could play him; the attacking width in Town’s orthodox 4-2-3-1 system comes from the full-backs, and Tommy Smith has never been particularly effective at overlapping the inside-forward or attacking opposition defences. Marshall’s pace and offensive-mindedness, combined with his ability to read the game, would add a much needed cutting edge to Town’s counter-attacks and transitional play, especially with Chris Löwe at left-back.
