Can Real Madrid Win The Treble?

Gareth Bale seems to think so. When Carlo Ancelotti was introduced as Real Madrid’s manager at the start of the season, he made a few promises to the Madridistas. He promised to change the face of Real Madrid and assured that the team will play attractive and exciting football. He’s certainly done that and they have a third of the treble already in the bag.

The Copa Del Rey was won in a 2-1 victory against a struggling, but still very good Barcelona side, courtsey of a Bale wonder goal justifying why they paid all that money for him. The victory in the final was Ancelotti’s first el classico win and it was a very good time to get it. It also has to be remembered that Madrid won the final without their star man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Looking to the league title race, it seems to be a three horse race this year, with Athletico Madrid joining the top two teams, with Real Madrid having a game in hand. It seems to be that Barcelona are not breaking the downfall any time soon, it could come down to the two Madrid teams and the recent experience in the league would suggest Real Madrid are favourites. However if Athletico win the rest of their games, they are champions. Real just need to win their games and not focus on other teams.

Finally, looking to this weeks game that Real have with Bayern in the Champions League, most people are split. Real players havent really commented while Bayern players are on the record saying that they’re the underdogs for this game, this could and most likely is just mind games, but could it be true? Bayern do have an incredible attack and they haven’t been matched so far this season in my opinion, except in one game, The Manchester City one at home. Manchester City came away from the Allianz Arena with a 3-2 win. They did this by exploting the shaky defence that Bayern has. They score so many goals that their defence does get overlooked and with Phillip Lahm probably lining up in the holding midfield role the two wing backs will be Rafhina and David Alaba. Alaba is probably the better out of the two and could possibly in years become the best left back in the world however, both are more attack minded, and Real Madrid are capable of performing one of the quickest counter attacks on the planets, they could easily get Bale and Ronaldo in behind and both are genuine goalscorers. If Real could see off Bayern then their in for a rather easier game in the final against either Chelsea or Athletico Madrid in their hunt for the La Decima.

Real Madrid could pull off a historic treble this season because they’ve got the firepower, the strongest defence they’ve had in years and they have a fantastic depth in squad. If they do win the treble it will only confirm what they’ve thought for years that they are the best team in the world.
