The festive period provides the ideal juncture to make some predictions about where certain sides will finish the season.
For Rangers, the ultimate goal has always been usurping Celtic and snatching back their title from the minute Steven Gerrard was appointed.
They are far closer to doing that this time around – Gerrard’s first summer of recruitment featured too many duds – and the Betfred Cup final showed the gap is closing.
The Gers deserved to win that match and break the Bhoys monopoly on Scottish silverware and the manner of the defeat may have left mental scars. So can this be their year?

TBR’s View – Festive derby win would set Rangers on course for glory
The nature of the Betfred Cup final loss was galling but it is better than being outclassed and it showed that the gap is closing between the two historic rivals.
If Rangers could get the win at Parkhead on Sunday, it would show that they have no ghosts from that final loss and are more than capable of going all the way.
Another loss against Neil Lennon’s side would offer a real test of the belief in Gerrard’s camp, as well as opening up a lead which proves impossible to haul in.
