Leeds United could be making a wise move in bringing in Udinese midfielder, Rodrigo De Paul, if former Argentina star Juan Pablo Sorin’s comments are anything to go by.
The Whites are being linked with a move for De Paul, with The Telegraph claiming that Leeds are weighing up a £25m bid for the Argentinian star.
The move would continue the summer spending spree for Marcelo Bielsa, who has already signed Robin Koch and Rodrigo Moreno for big sums of money this summer.
And in relation to De Paul, it appears he may have all the tools to succeed. Indeed, Sorin – who made more than 70 appearances for Argentina – has previously admitted to being impressed with the Udinese man. (Mundo Albiceleste)
“I like a lot but first is the personality of De Paul and Lautaro (Martinez). Argentina needs those types of players that can play under any conditions or circumstances when they haven’t played 50 games for the national team… playing with the Argentina national team just like your club, it’s complicated. They’ve done that.”
De Paul has won 17 caps since making his debut for the national team in 2018 and these comments from a legend like Sorin will instil confidence into the Leeds supporters who may know little about the 25-year-old.
High praise here, Leeds will be getting a serious player – TBR View
Juan Sorin might not be a glamour name in Argentina history but he has 75 caps and played with some of the best players the country has ever produced in some of the biggest tournaments.
For him to recognise the qualities of De Paul suggests that the Udinese man is quite the talent.
If Leeds can pull this signing off then they’ll be getting a superb midfield player it seems. There were question marks about how the Whites would go about their business following promotion. It seems, then, that we are getting an emphatic answer of late.
