Can Marcelo Bielsa now utilise his Stuart Dallas masterplan?

Stuart Dallas now appears to be fit after his recent thigh strain. The Northern Ireland man looked impressive on international duty and Leeds will welcome the versatile player back to first-team duty at Elland Road.

It will now be interesting to see where Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa ends up utilising the 27-year-old.

Dallas is a winger by trade, but competition is fierce in that area. Leeds could also use him as a full-back, where he played plenty of times last season.

However, as reported by Leeds United reporter Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post earlier this year, Bielsa appears to see him as a potential central-midfield option.

That could certainly come in handy for Leeds at present.

It is an area they are not blessed with depth. Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips are the regular choices. However, Adam Forshaw has also been out injured whilst Lewis Baker could also be rivalled by Dallas.

Bielsa has a fine history of identifying players attributes that are suited to a different position. The Argentine has done so with a number of players, such as Gary Medel and Javi Martinez.

Dallas might have been playing in the wrong position all this time. It will be interesting to see if Bielsa’s masterplan pays off with the Northern Irishman.
