The first fixture of the festive period marks the halfway point in the Premier League for every club apart from Liverpool and West Ham.
That means it offers as good a point as any at which to make predictions about where certain teams will end up come May.
When Jose Mourinho took over at Tottenham, a place in the Champions League spots looked a long way off after the start Mauricio Pochettino had overseen.
But Spurs got within striking distance of Chelsea ahead of last Sunday’s clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but blew the chance to go into Christmas Day in the top four. So will they clamber in by the time the season ends?

TBR’s View – Chelsea loss exposed Tottenham’s flaws once more
Overtaking Chelsea, continuing the momentum generated by Mourinho as well as extending Chelsea’s poor run may just have given Spurs the platform they needed to make it back into the Champions League next year.
As it is, Mourinho was outwitted against a former employer again, making it two losses from two games against top six rivals already and the likes of Serge Aurier and Eric Dier were exposed.
The chances of Mourinho getting January signings to boost the squad are low and Chelsea look like a side with a clear idea of what they want to be. Tottenham don’t yet, and are still reeling slightly from that poor start.
At this rate, Tottenham’s best chance of getting back into next season’s Champions League might be winning it this year.
