West Ham fans were extremely excited when they signed Jack Wilshere in the summer, but just four games into the new season his reoccurring issue with injuries meant he was primed for another long spell on the sidelines.

But the 26-year-old is edging back to first-team action and the Evening Standard report he could be in the Hammers squad for the next game away to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

It is underwood that manager Manuel Pellegrini needs to decide if the 34-time capped England international is ready to be thrown straight back into action.

West Ham could have a real game-changer up their sleeve if the central midfielder is available and he could be the catalyst in the club’s form.

The London club are more settled under Pellegrini after a difficult start to the season, but are 14th in the league table and have far more lofty ambitions.

Wilshere was one of the high-profile additions at the London Stadium and he’s proven in the past with Arsenal that he can run the show in midfield against quality players when on form.

The left-footed ace can provide the extra spark in the centre that has been lacking from the Hammers and it’s a case of whether he can can get a run of games under his belt.

West Ham come up against an in-form Newcastle team at the weekend that have won three consecutive games and it would be a major boost to see Wilshere back involved.

Wilshere will bring some extra ability on the pitch, while his overall presence may even help raise the game of his teammates.
