A figure who is rather out in the cold at Old Trafford; and has been for quite some time, is Adnan Januzaj, but that does not mean he could not do a job for a Premier League outfit on the hunt for creativity and goals from midfield.
With Steve Bruce opting to play a right wing-back on one flank and having no real choice other than Robert Snodgrass on the other, it is clear to see that the former Birmingham manager needs an injection of width and pace into his squad. Through these means, opposition defences can be stretched to their limits and must always keep one eye on the potential perpetrator, creating more space for others.
José likes to operate with a small squad and although we will have to wait and see his verdict on the youngster’s future, it is far from certain that he will receive plentiful opportunities for The Red Devils next term. The Tigers were able to profit from a similar arrangement this campaign when taking Nick Powell on loan from Old Trafford and until he suffered a long-term injury, the youngster had been making waves at the KC Stadium. Having seen the success of such a tactic at first-hand, surely Steve Bruce will be considering something similar once again?
Although Adnan Januzaj is not an out-and-out wide-man, he is not averse to playing there; or even in behind the striker, and so would prove a valuable addition to Hull City’s playing staff, even if it is only on loan. His wand of a left foot has not seen much of an outing in the last few months, deprived of first-team minutes in the latter half of his spell on loan at Dortmund and severely restricted when back in Manchester.
Should he be capable of rediscovering the kind of form which cemented him as a key United performer during his breakthrough season, Hull City would have a real diamond on their hands that could be the difference between dropping straight back into the Championship and establishing themselves in the Premier League.
