Can Celtic target Robert Gumny replace Mikael Lustig?

Celtic are reportedly interested in defender Robert Gumny from Polish club Lech Poznan.

According to Gazeta Wyborcza, the Scottish champions have the 20-year-old on their radar.

It is understood that Brendan Rodgers’ side would be prepared to pay £4.3million for him, but Poznan are reluctant to allow their highly-rated youngster to exit.

The report also details that the full-back was close to joining German club Borussia Monchengladbach last summer, but that deal collapsed in the end.

Gumny is an attack-minded right-back that has been troubled by injuries for large spells this season, but has come into some form recently.

The Poland Under-21 international likes to go forward, which has seen him score one and assist one in seven games this campaign.

He is a speed machine that has immense potential and looks very assured at senior level already for Lech Poznan.

Celtic could potentially make an upgrade at right-back if Gumny did complete a switch to Parkhead, while manager Brendan Rodgers could definitely help get the best out of him.

There is every chance he could be a replacement for loyal servant Mikael Lustig, who has been guilty of inconsistent form in the last year.

Celtic have seen Anthony Ralston pick up an injury and it would be risky to put full faith in error-prone Lustig, which is why Gumny may be a great addition.
