Cameron Palmer has posted on Instagram after it was confirmed he had left Rangers on a permanent basis to join Northern Irish side Linfield this month – and Michael Beale has reacted to his exit on Twitter with a touching message.

Palmer, 20, has ended his spell at Rangers which saw him come through the academy and become a regular in the reserve team. However, the eight-time Northern Ireland Under-21 midfielder failed to make a single senior appearance.

Instead, Palmer has gone on loan three times in the last 18 months. He played 20 times for Partick Thistle during the first half of the 2019-20 season, before linking up with Rangers’ feeder club Orange County in America for the rest of last season.

This time around, he has spent the first half of the campaign with Clyde but now, Palmer has decided to swap Rangers and the loan spells to move to Northern Ireland – and join Northern Irish Premier League leaders Linfield until June 2022.

The Gers have numerous players in midfield that prevented Palmer from breaking in, with the likes of Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Bongani Zungu currently Steven Gerrard’s first-team options.

Rangers also confirmed the news on Twitter via their youth academy’s account – and Beale has reacted.
